Roads minister’s main challenger files nomination

Alhaji Ibrahim Seidu, a Chief Engineer at Feeder Roads in Accra, on Thursday filed his nomination forms to contest the Tamale Central Constituency primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Alhaji Seidu is aiming to unseat the incumbent Roads and Highways Minister, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini.

Ing Seidu and Alhaji Fuseini are the only candidates to submit their nomination forms after so far, whiles the other two contestants Mr Alhassan Abdulai, a banker and Mr Ziblim Saaka, a lecturer are yet to file their nominations.

Ing. Seidu, speaking to the media after filing his nomination, expressed optimism of winning the parliamentary primary as well as the main election in 2016 to help the NDC execute its “Better Ghana Agenda”.

He said he represented hope and a face of change to all the neglected people in the constituency and that if the delegates retains the current MP, they would continue to remain in their frustration since “the MP was engaging in divide and rule tactics,” which does not augur well for the development of the area.

He said there was reason to change the current MP, who had played his part in the development of the area, indicating that, new crop of people were needed with new ideas to effectively execute the “Better Ghana Agenda” of the NDC.

Alhaji Seidu claimed that a great number of the constituents, including market women and the rank and file of the party, were calling for a change and a new face in the constituency for effective development, adding that, he represented unity and a visionary leader, who could address the needs of the people.

Ahlaji Seidu appealed to the other contestants to conduct a clean campaign devoid of acrimony to ensure that the elections were successful since all of them were working for the interest of the people as well as owing allegiance to the NDC.

“We need to embark on clean campaigns towards the primary because we are all one and we should not do anything that will give our opponents the weapons to fight us in 2016”, he said, and stressed that a win for any candidate in the primary was a win for democracy and the NDC.
