Barely one week after a raid at the New Achimota residence of an Accra-based businessman Nana Ahima that resulted in the loss of personal effects and some 15,000 dollars, armed robbers have for the second time this week, raided another residence in the same vicinity and made away with atelevision set, a telephone receiver, wrist watches, clothing and some money.
Mr Robert Agbobli Snr., 65, a retired Transport Manager of the International Tobacco, Ghana, Limited, whose house was raided, told the GNA in an interview that three robbers invaded his house around 2.30 a.m., andordered them to open the door after they had failed to do so by hitting it with a cement block. He said they did not resist in opening the door since the masked robberswere firing warning shots and threatened to kill them.
”The moment they entered the room, they locked my wife, my sister in-law and myself into one of the bedrooms with one of the robbers guarding us with a cutlass and a pistol while the others ransacked the house,” he added. He said the robbers searched through everything for money and took allthat they had on them, including coins after which they collected theirpersonal belongings. He however, could not specify the amount involved.
Mr. Agbobli said the robbers spent about 25 minutes in the house but fortunately none of his family members was hurt. He said this was the fourth time his house had been burgled, adding that he has reported the current case to the Achimota Mile 7 Police, whohave taken fingerprints and were investigating the robbery.
