The Rotary Club of Accra Osu Oxford Street has officially handed over a renovated four-classroom block and furniture to the Manhia Primary School and JHS in Accra.
At the handing over of the project, which cost GHC 100,000, President of the club, Della Kwaku Kpobley indicated the initiative is in line with the club's aim “to enhance a learning environment” by undertaking impactful projects within its area of operation.
In addition to the renovated classroom block were new writing boards and also refurbished toilet facilities.
“At Rotary, we have set out to positively impact lives in a lasting way and there is no better demonstration of that than education,” Kpobley established during the handing over ceremony which was also attended by the Accra Metro Education Director .
“Our hope is that the renovated classroom block and enhanced facilities adds to the quality of education the pupils get.” he added.
The project was largely championed by the Project Services Director of the Rotary Club of Accra Osu Oxford Street, Linda Amofah aided with technical assistance from Rotarians Carl Max Brew and Curtis Yankah in a classic demonstration of the strength of Rotary; the fusion of time and talent to take action and solve some of the world’s pressing problems.
Last Friday’s handover was the latest in a long line of projects that RCAOS has undertaken at the Manhia School. The club has organized reading sessions, donated books and undertaken dental clinics at the school in the past.
