The Rotary Club of Accra-Teshie Nungua held its prestigious handover and fundraising ceremony on Thursday July 18th, 2024, at the Lancaster Hotel in Accra.

The event marked the transition of leadership from outgoing President Rotarian Eyram Hevi to the newly inducted President Rotarian Kwabena Nketia Addae. The ceremony was graced by prominent figures, including Assistant Governor Nana Esi Adade Amankwah, the District Rotary Friendship Exchange Chair PAG Awal Babah-Alargi, Past Assistant Governors, Rotary Presidents, Past Rotary Presidents, Rotarians, Rotaractors, and other distinguished guests.

In his acceptance speech, Rotarian President Kwabena Nketia Addae expressed deep gratitude for the trust placed in him to lead the esteemed club. He reflected on Rotary International's rich history of over a century of humanitarian service and highlighted the significant contributions made by the Rotary Club of Accra-Teshie Nungua to the community. These contributions include promoting peace, fighting diseases, supporting vulnerable individuals, empowering persons with special needs, and contributing to quality education.

President Addae shared his Rotary journey, recounting how PAG Christian Martin Kamara of Rotary Club of Freetown, District 9101, introduced him to Rotary. Encouraged by PP Nana Kwadwo Koram of the Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central, and finally convinced by IPP Eyram of RCA-TN, RP Nketia joined the Rotary Club of Accra-Teshie Nungua. He expressed gratitude to his mentors for providing him with an avenue to fulfill his desire to give and share with others.

As the club embarks on a new Rotary year, Rotarian President Nketia outlined his goals, emphasizing the continuation of successful projects and the exploration of new avenues for greater community impact. The club's flagship project, ƆkamafƆ, will continue to support persons with cerebral palsy, mental illness, and hypertension. Other ongoing projects include peace building through ToinjƆlƐ (Peace), Girl Child Empowerment focusing on menstrual hygiene, and various other initiatives.

Rotarian President Nketia's top priorities include strengthening the club's membership base, increasing community visibility, fostering partnerships with other organizations, and ensuring financial stability. He encouraged each member to invite at least one person to join the club, emphasizing that collective effort is crucial to achieving the club's goals. He also announced plans to establish an ICT Center at the Rafikki Satellite Village orphanage in Winneba, with a long-term goal of converting it into an AI hub for young people in Ghana and beyond.

The event witnessed the awarding of citations to deserving corporate organizations that helped sponsor the projects of the Rotary Club of Accra Teshie-Nungua in the past Rotary year. The RCA-Teshie Nungua also presented awards to Assistant Governor Nana Esi Adade Amankwah for her excellent supervision and support of the club. In addition, the District Rotary Friendship Exchange Chair PAG Awal Babah-Alargi was also appreciated for his support to the club when the club hosted their partners from the Rotary Club of Barton Rogue in the past Rotary year. IPP Eyram Hevi finally presented awards to his Board members and deserving club member. President Elect, Rotarian Palmas Tysokplo was awarded the best Rotarian for the Rotary Club of Accra Teshie-Nungua for his hard work and commitment during the Rotary year 2023-2024.

In closing, Rotarian President Nketia expressed his gratitude to the outgoing president, IPP Eyram Hevi, and his team for their hard work and dedication. He pledged to uphold Rotary International's values and traditions and called on all Rotarians to unite in serving humanity.
