Rumour about sale of Gas project untrue-Horner-Sam

Effasu (W/R) July 31, GNA - Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister, on Wednesday said the Government has not sold the Effasu Gas Project as it is been alleged in some quarters. She was speaking at separate durbars organised by the people of Effasu and Half Assini in her honour during her three-day working visit to the Jomoro District.

Madam Horner-Sam said the barge for the project has also not been sold and that the facility was presently at the Sekondi Naval Base waiting to be transported to the project site at Effasu. She said if the Government had planned to sell the barge, it would not have paid the arrears for the facility in Italy and transport it at a great cost to the country. Madam Horner-Sam said the guesthouse for workers of the project would be put in good shape by September this year. She said the gas project was dear to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government and would not play politics with it.

Madam Horner-Sam said: "The Government is practicing open politics", and is using the resources of the country for development. She advised other political parties to practice "clean politics" and to stop spreading falsehood that could derail the country's development, peace and stability.

Nana Ayebie Amihere III, Chief of Half Assini, appealed to the Government to repair roads in the area to facilitate economic activities.

Madam Horner-Sam commissioned a block of six classrooms and a six-seater place of convince estimated at 581.9 million cedis. The HIPC Relief Fund contributed 430 million cedis and the Jomoro District Assembly, 151 point 9 million cedis from its share of the district assembly common fund for the projects.
