Rural Bank assists community to construct police accommodation

Akuma, (B/A) May 26, GNA - The Management of the Kwabre Rural bank which has its headquarters at Akuma in the Nkoranza District of Brong Ahafo Region has presented 100 bags of cement and seven trips of sand valued at 8.5 million cedis to the people of Akuma to augment their efforts towards the construction of a permanent accommodation facility for the Police personnel serving in the area.

Mr. Joseph Takyi Djan, chairman of the Bank's Board of Directors who made the presentation on behalf of the Bank, said the gesture was in appreciation of the community's efforts in patronizing the activities of the Bank since the past 22 years as it was established in 1983. Mr. Djan said the offer was not going to be a day's wonder and that the Bank would try as much as possible to assist development programmes in the area to enable the people improve upon their living standards. He therefore, stressed the need for the community leaders of the area to educate their people to patronize the bank and get actively involved in activities so as to establish a sound financial base for the bank and the management would also continue to offer the necessary support towards their lifestyles.

Mr. Djan announced that the Bank would also assist communities such as Donkro-Nkwanta, Nkoranza, Nkwabeng, Tuobodom and Techiman as it has opened agencies over there and to appreciate the efforts of the customers there.

Mr. Ahmed Gyabaa, Assemblyman of the area who received the items for the community praised the management of the Bank for their generous gesture and the better plans they have for the development of the community. According to Mr. Gyabaa, the Police Station at Akuma was opened 24 years ago, but the personnel serving in the area have been living in rented accommodation since that period. He gave the assurance that the community would use the items provided them for the intended purpose to get a better place for the Police in the area and to encourage them in ensuring the security of the people and their property against criminals. Nana Osei Kwadwo, Asabiakamhne of Akuma, a suburb of the area, on behalf of the Chiefs and elders disclosed that they would organise a forum to educate the people to do business with the Bank to improve upon their living standards and also enhance the development of Akuma. Among those present at the ceremony was Nana Yaw Manu, Krontihene.
