Rural bank donates sewing machines to 12 apprentices

Akrokerri (Ash), Nov 10, GNA - The Adansi Rural Bank has donated 12 sewing machines worth seven million cedis to 12 needy seamstress apprentices in Akrokerri.

Mr A.K. Boakye, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank who made the presentation, said it was the policy of the bank not only to encourage the acquisition of formal education through scholarships but also to support people to take other trades that would make them self-sufficient.

He said every person had a talent that could be developed for the benefit of society and therefore urged parents and communities to help make the youth to become useful to the society.

Nana Kwasi Buobai 11, the Akwamuhene of Akrokerri, commended the bank for its foresight and for supporting the government's policy on poverty reduction through such empowerment of the youth to become self-supporting.

Nana Buobai appealed to the Akrokerri community to reciprocate the bank's gesture by saving with the bank at its branch office in the town.
