Russian CJ's crash leaves a bad image for Ghana - K.B. Asante

Former Ghanaian diplomat, K. B. Asante, has said Ghana’s credibility has been dented in the international community following Monday’s accident involving the Russian Chief Justice (CJ) while visiting Ghana.

His convoy was rammed by a tipper truck while returning to Ghana’s capital, Accra, after attending a Bar Association conference.

He sustained serious injuries and has been flown back home for further medical treatment. Speaking on ‘Time with K. B. Asante’ on the XYZ Breakfast show, Mr. K. B. Asante said Ghana’s image will never be the same after the accident.

“It is simply not good; anybody who has been out of the country before will know that this creates a bad image for us.

His escorts were unprofessional in maintaining his security. It seems our escorts are mainly for show,” he declared.

The truck driver who rammed the Russian Chief Justice’s convey has, however, reported himself to the police in the Volta regional capital, Ho. Forty-seven year-old Richard Kofi Degbor gave himself up on Wednesday. He is to assist with investigations.

The head of training, research and education at the Motor Traffic and Transport department of the police service, DSP Alexander Obeng told XYZ News, the investigation is not necessarily meant to bring criminal charges against the driver.
