SDA undertakes clean-up exercise

Akim Oda, Mar. 8, GNA - Members of Akim Oda East District of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) on Sunday spent several hours in a massive clean-up exercise at the Akim Oda lorry-park and parts of the town.

Accompanying by brass band music, the members swept and desilted choked gutters.

Speaking to newsmen after the exercise, the District Pastor of the Church, Reverend Albert Darko said the occasion formed part of activities to mark the Women's Ministry week celebration of the church and Ghana's 47th anniversary.

He said as Christians it was their duty to ensure that the environment was clean since cleanliness is next to Godliness. Mrs Comfort Anim, the Eastern Regional Director of Women's Ministry department of the SDA East Ghana Conference spoke of plans by the church to organise such clean up exercise periodically.

She said it was about time that church activities were not limited to the spiritual growth of their members only but to ensure that they took part in ventures that help the people to live in sound and healthy environment to reduce the incidence of diseases like cholera outbreak and other communicable diseases.
