Ghanaians have been urged to take keen interest and play active roles in cleaning their environment as a prerequisite for the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Chief Executive Officer of Overseas Commerce Ghana Limited Boaz Amiel cautioned that without a clean Ghana, it is practically impossible for the country to be able to attain the SDGs, especially Goals 3, 6, 13 and 15.

These goals emphasize good health and wellbeing, clean water and sanitation, climate action and life on land, and Mr. Amiel advised that the goals are directly linked to how willing Ghanaians are to participate in making Ghana clean.

Speaking at a clean-up exercise organized by the company in collaboration with Dzabatu Residents Association Community 3, Mr. Amiel called for a change in attitude.

“We cannot hope to achieve the SDGs if we do not put in work. Goals 3, 6,13 and 15 of the SDGs are practically impossible if we do not change the way we approach cleaning the environment around us,” he cautioned.

He observed that even though the government has a role to play in making the country clean it must start with the citizens themselves.

“It is only a healthy workforce that can transform this country to what it should be. If the environment is not clean, people will fall sick, productivity will be negatively impacted, jobs will be lost. We cannot develop Ghana if that situation persists,” he noted.
