SFO Investigates Ashanti NADMO & RCC

The Serious Fraud Office SFO has started investigation into an alleged embezzlement and misapplication of over 2.8 billion cedis meant for disaster management by the Regional Coordinating council. The regional Head of the SFO Mr. k. Sarpong told Kapital Radio that the investigations have been occasioned by allegations and counter allegations of financial irregularities on the airwaves. He said the office has already taken statements from the Regional Coordinating council?s accountant and NADMO boss

The former KMA boss Maxwell Kofi Jumah has alleged financial misappropriation of the amount which he claim was meant for disaster victims in his constituency. But documents at the Regional Coordinating Council show that the monies were meant for Asokwa and Bantama sub metro as well as Ahafo Ano North and South Districts but not Asokwa constituency alone as being alleged by Mr. Kofi Jumah.

Officials at the RCC told Kapital Radio that the amount was released as a result of a request made by the Ashanti Regional NADMO but not by Kofi Jumah as he is claiming. They could not understand why the former mayor is making such allegations arguing that the Fin! ance and the Interior Ministries would not grant a request by an MP unless it is channeled through the relevant institutions. Meanwhile, Assembly members of the Asokwa constituency have called for an investigation into the alleged financial malfeasance. The Assemblyman of New Atonsu King Bonah told Kapital Radio that they would not relent on the matter until the truth has been established.
