SHS opened at Adjen Kotoku

The Ghana Education Service has officially opened a Senior High School (SHS) at Adjen Kototu in the Ga West Municipality, following a publication by the Ghana News Agency.

On October 14, GNA did a news story headlined, "Adjen Kototu new school block sits idle," and the story stated, in part: "Residents of Adjen Kotoku in the Ga West District have expressed concern about the delay in the use of the new school project completed a couple of years ago.

The project has been sitting idle for the past three years."

In the said publication, an elder of the area, Nii Okaidja Papafio and the assembly member for Kofi Kwei Electoral Area, Pius Fiakuna, jointly suggested to government to make the completed project a senior high school, since the area had none.

They made a strong appeal for it to be started as early as possible.

Surprisingly and joyfully, the wish of the residents was granted exactly six weeks after the publication.

The school started at the beginning of December last year with over 10 students admitted into first year, to pursue programmes in General Arts, Visual Arts and Home Economics, authorities have confirmed.

Residents interviewed by the GNA, following the commencement of the school, expressed gratitude to government for listening to their concern, and appealed for the provision of qualified staff and requisite logistics for enhanced teaching and learning.
