SIC insures "Kwadamfo" vehicle

The State Insurance Company (SIC) has presented a 40 million-cedi comprehensive motor insurance cover for the Kwadamfo" vehicle, manufactured by the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The Department through the assistance of the ALCOA Foundation of USA manufactured the vehicle, which would be commissioned at the first auto car rally at the University on May 17.

It could be used mainly for agricultural purposes.

Presenting the policy to the Department in Kumasi on Friday, Mr James Appeatu-Ankrah, Kumasi Area Manager of SIC, said the gesture was in recognition of the Department's ingenuity in coming out with the vehicle.

He said SIC would continue to support the activities of the Department to enable it come out with other equipment and tools that would help propel the industrial and agricultural growth of the country.

Professor Abeeku Brew-Hammond, Head of the Department, thanked the company for the gesture.

He said the university was working hard to bridge the gap between industry and the University to ensure society benefited from its activities.

Professor Brew-Hammond said the vehicle would help boost agricultural production in the country.
