The 2020 presidential candidate of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Akwasi Addai Odike, has described the President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo as a ‘cynic’ who has lost touch with reality.

The reaction, on Pure Morning Drive hosted by Kwame Adinkra, followed the President’s delivery of State of the Nation's Address on Thursday, February 20.

Odike described the president as a leader who is virtually groping his way through governance.

He said the president “doesn’t think of Ghanaians. He believes we’re interested in long addresses?. He didn’t address the pressing needs of people in this country. Ghanaians are crying. There’s no money in the system. Ghana is sinking financially and the president says he has built toilets and will continue to build more? That’s uninspiring to say the least”.

According to him, the President should have addressed ‘very sensitive areas of the economy not toilets. I mean how? His address paints little resemblance of what pertains in Ghana today”

“However, judging by the President’s address it was clear that President Akufo-Addo is “out of touch with the country he is governing, his leadership has failed to proffer solution to the creeping needs of Ghanaians ”, he pointed out.

Odike appealed to the President to admit the country is in crises.

“Akufo-Addo must admit our nation is in a time of intense difficulty”, stating some challenges facing some sectors of the economy including education and health.
