SONSETFUND discusses handing over of Education Complex

The Executive Council Members of the Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu Education Fund (SONSETFUND) have discussed the possible handing over of the National Chief Imam’s Education Complex to government.

The discussion was held between members of SONSETFUND and officials of the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly, after taking a tour of the education facility at Kasoa in the Central Region.

Alhaji Alhassan Abdulai, member of the SONSETFUND, said the major aim of the education facility which was funded by Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, was to provide quality education to people, especially the less-privileged ones.

He said, it was, therefore, important that managers of the education complex partnered with government for a possible handing over to the Education Directorate, to enable majority of the people to benefit.

Mr Nuhu Adams, Awutu Senya East Municipal Chief Executive, commended the National Chief Imam for funding the Education Complex, saying it showed his belief in and commitment to providing quality education to the needy in society.

He said, as a partner in development, government was ready to manage the Education Complex, in partnership with the Executive Council Members of SONSETFUND, for the benefit of all and sundry.

He disclosed that a Committee would be formed, involving members of SONSETFUND and the Education Directorate, at Awutu-Senya East, to discuss modalities of the taking over of the Education Complex.

“At the end of the discussion, the Committee would be expected to come out with a Memorandum of Understanding, to be followed by all parties,” he added.

Mr Adams said, when taken over, the Education Complex would be the first public Senior High School within the Municipality even before the government’s Day Senior High School programme comes on board, and therefore called for urgency in the discussions by both parties.
