SOS from Fooshegu Electoral Area

PRESS RELEASE IN RESPECT OF THE DOWNPOUR ON SUNDAY, 22ND JULY 2007 AND DAMAGE ON THE FOOSHEGU DAM

Following the heavy downpour on Sunday, 22nd July 2007 and the subsequent flooding in some parts of the Tamale Metropolis, the Fooshegu Electoral Area also had its fair share. We wish to report that the only dam in Fooshegu as a result of the heavy down pour broke its banks resulting in flooding of the Electoral area as a result of which roads and other infrastructure including public and private buildings have been damaged beyond repairs by the community members.

It is worthy to note that the Fooshegu dam serves nine other communities including Tamale Metropolis and since the dam broke its banks the quantity of water in the dam cannot serve the people from now to the dry season

In view of the above I the Assemblyman for the area on behalf of the chiefs and people wish to use this medium to appeal to the Tamale Metro Assembly, the National Disaster Management Organization, NGOs, Benevolent groups and the general public to come to the aid of the people of Fooshegu in cash or kind so that the only dam can be rehabilitated.

Signed Prince Mohammed A.A. Assemblyman (Fooshegu Electoral Area)
