Tongo (U/E), Dec 21, GNA - The District Director of Education in char= ge of Talensi-Nabdam, Mr. Francis Ayaaba, has said the School Performance Review (SPR) Monitoring Test process was an effective tool that could be used to address the falling standards of education in the country.
He said this during a stakeholders' workshop held in Tongo on the new=
educational incentive dubbed "Tackling Educational Needs Inclusively" (TE= NI) introduced in all basic schools in the Talensi-Nabdam District, West Mamprusi District in the Northern Region and Jirapa in the Upper West Reg= ion sponsored by Comic Relief, a United Kingdom based charitable organization= .. The project, which covers a five-year period, is aimed at achieving retention, transition and performance rates of all school children in bas= ic schools in the operational areas of the project.
It would be replicated in other parts of the three northern regions i= f first stage is successful. Mr. Ayaaba underscored the need to make the SPR test a major component= of school administration so as to solve the problem of falling standards of education in the district and the nation as a whole.
