STC Health Portal Clinic organizes health walk to sanitize workers

The STC Health Portal Clinic on Saturday organized a health walk to sensitize corporate institutions and the general public on the need to always practice healthy lifestyle.

The mammoth walk dubbed, “Tene Wu Namu” to wit "Stretch Your Legs" drew hundreds of crowd including Fire Service and STC staffs who saw the need to join the walk due to its impact.

The 6 kilometre Health walk started from the STC yard through the principal streets of Accra and ended at the Accra sports stadium amidst brass band and “jama” (morale songs) by the Fire Service personnel.

There was an aerobics at the Accra Sports Stadium as well as health screening including massage and dental care.

The Medical Superintendent of the STC Portal Health Clinic Dr. Richmond Opare stressed the need for all and sundry to make good health their priority.

He said it pays to practice a healthy lifestyle as it combats all manner of diseases and ailments in the body.

“We decided to start the year healthy. We are STC Health Porta Clinic trying to bring together all the work forces and associate companies around the locality and inculcate the sense of exercise and unison among them. Also to make STC workers and Corporate workers very fit and to begin the new year on a very healthy note,” he emphasized.



Dr. Opare further expressed excitement about the attendance for the maiden health walk describing it as impressive.

According to him next year’s event is going to be bigger as he said there will be fun games among corporate institutions as well as free medical screening for participants.

Dr. Opare later called on employers to prioritize the health of their employees adding that, it is the only way the workers can be healthy and productive.
