The former deputy sports minister Joseph Yamin has called on President John Mahama to sack on President Akufo-Addo to sack Inspector General of Police [IGP] David Asante-Apeatu from his post without any delay.
He claims the IGP since assuming office in 2017 has shown some level of ‘incompetency’ as far as security in the country is concern.
Speaking on Abusua Nkommo hosted by Austine Woode, Yamin said ‘’The IGP has really demonstrated that he can’t do the job and must be fired immediately by Nana Addo’’
‘’Under this IGP police have to resort to prayers including he the IGP praying to God for their safety. Police Champlain issued a statement throughout the country asking police officials to pray because they are being killed, they are under attack’’.
‘’President Akufo-Addo even stated at the meet the press in January that the Police are overwhelmed by vigilante group of his political party. If nor for the fact that the President need something from the IGP, the very day he made that statement he should have fire the IGP because the President had admitted that security issues in the country wasn’t the best’’.
He continued ‘’Look you let’s go back to the previous administration if not for nothing at all we managed to put up a very nice Police Station at Kokoben following the incessant robbery cases which were recorded there and the station has been commissioned this year and at least it has lessen the robbery cases in the area’’
‘’As at the time Kofi Boakye was in Kumasi we has various visibility points in the Ashanti Region but what do we see now under the new IGP’’.
