Sadam Buying Uranium From Ghana: Writer's Apology

We publish below an e-mail from Mr. Floyd McKay who erroneously referred to Ghana as the place where Sadam Hussein tried to purchase Uranium. The article titled "The cautionary tale of two public servants" was published in the "Seattle Times" of Wednesday, November 26, 2003.

Upon reading the article on the Ghanaweb site (READ). , Dr. Peter Kwaku Kyem, Associate Professor of Geography at the Central Connecticut State University, sent him an e-mail and he has responded.

Dear Friends:
Several readers have caught me in an embarrassing error. Yes, of course it was Niger, and not Ghana, that was the nation in question in my column. A sloppy error on my part, for which I apologize. The point of the column is the same regardless of the nation involved, but I really feel badly about the error and thank you for calling it to my attention. I'll correct it in a future column.

Best regards to all,

Floyd McKay
