Veep did not receive low reception in the North - Botwe
The entire township of Salaga, an ancient slave market, was thrown into a state of ecstasy and hilarity when the Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, arrived in the company of Hon Boniface Abubakar Saddique, Member of Parliament for the area, to inaugurate a shea-butter factory.
Hon Saddique is the Deputy Minister for Tourism and Modernization of the capital city. The visit was part of the Vice President?s tour of the Northern Region, last week.
On arrival at Salaga, Kpembe to be precise, to attend a durbar, the enthusiastic youth who were at the durbar, carried high the MP, Hon Saddique, chanting, ?Boni oo Boni?, ?Boni oo Boni?, while they danced and drummed.
The durbar grounds became very misty with the dust which emanated from the dancing feet of the youth who joyously sang New Patriotic Party (NPP) songs, and stamped their feet to jubilate.
It was almost as if the Vice President and his entourage had been ignored. To the people at the durbar grounds, Boniface Saddique was all they wanted to see, and more so, in the company of the Vice President.
After the jubilants were exhausted, they settled down for the programme, drawn up for the durbar to take place as scheduled. They, nonetheless, shouted and clapped at every mention of the name of the MP by any of the speakers at the function.
The Vice President who looked much excited, showed his appreciation to the people for the support they have given the NPP Administration.
