The Sagnarigu District Assembly has completed all technical requirements to ensure the implementation of the Street Naming and Property Addressing (SNPA) system in all its communities.
Mr Takora Saaka, District Director of Town and Country Planning Department said, and added that the district had also taken stock of all the necessary equipment to facilitate the exercise.
Mr Saaka stated this at a stakeholders’ forum organised by the Sagnarigu District Assembly in Tamale to sensitize residents on the SNPA system.
The forum, attended by various interest groups including traditional authorities and people from all walks of life in the district, was also to explain the processes involved in carrying out the exercise, its significance, as well as address the concerns of the residents about the exercise.
Mr Saaka said the district had already compiled a data of all roads and property within its jurisdiction, but was waiting for the residents to suggest names to give to the roads.
He, therefore, urged the residents to propose names to be considered for the roads to ensure the success of the exercise.
He also spoke about some of the advantages of the exercise, which included addressing difficulties in attending to emergency situations as well as ensuring rapid development of the district.
Mr Alhassan Mohammed Sorugudoo, Sagnarigu District Chief Executive, called on the residents to embrace the exercise because it would facilitate the development of the communities.
Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani, Paramount Chief of Sagnarigu Traditional Area, pledged the support of the traditional authorities for the exercise and urged the people to propose suitable names to be considered for the roads.
He commended the assembly for its efforts at bringing development projects to the communities and called on all to support the exercise to ensure success.
