Sakoti Traditional area en-skins Queen Mother

Sakoti (U/E), March 1, GNA - The Queen Mother of the Sakoti Traditiona= l Area, Pognaba Olivia Sugri Danigi, has urged the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit to be innovative in their efforts at encouraging women to report cases of domestic violence. The Queen Mother made this known during her enskinment at Sakoti in th= e Talensi Nabdam District.

Pognaba Olivia Sugri Danigi noted that most women in the Upper East Region did not have the urge to report cases of abuse to the unit because o= f the harassment they often received from their colleagues. The Paramount Chief of Sakoti, Naba Sigiri Bewong, appealed to the Queen Mother to help bring investors to the community because the area abounds with a lot of resources that needed to be developed. He appealed to her to support and collaborate with the women in the area and cautioned the males in the traditional area not to look down upon the Queen Mother but should accord her the necessary respect and assistance she deserves.

He also urged the queen mother to collaborate with her fellow queen mothers in the southern parts of Ghana, on issues of development for the benefit of the Sakoti Traditional Area.

Pognaba Olivia Sugri Danigi thanked the people for reposing their confidence in her and said that she would help to boost education in the area. She said she was in talks with some investors in the agricultural sector to help harness the agricultural potential in the area. She called on the people to maintain the prevailing peace in the area to pave way for accelerated development. The Chief of Kwahu Atibie in the Eastern Region, Nana Agyemang, commended the Chieftaincy institution in the Upper East Region for enskinin= g Queen Mothers.
