Policy Analyst, Irbard Ibrahim, has commended Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia for initiating moves to cut salaries of some Chief Executive Officers of some public organisations.
He further described the salaries paid to the CEOs as senseless.
Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Tuesday bemoaned the current salary levels of some Chief Executive Officers of some public organizations which he said, are not in conformity with productivity.
Addressing a policy and governance forum on State-Owned Enterprises, Dr. Bawumia noted: “a recent report by the Finance Ministry covering about 18 SOEs indicated that they made a net loss of ¢791 million in addition to having received loans and financial support” and with this, the Finance Ministry is to rationalize the salaries of heads of public organizations.
Irbard Ibrahim in an interview with Atinka 104.7 FM said the monies given to these CEOs are “outrageous and need to be reduced drastically as they do not make sense”.
“We heard that former CEO of COCOBOD was taking over GH 70,000 just for 30 days; this doesn’t make sense!’’ he emphasized.
Mr. Ibrahim said it’s very pathetic that these people, instead of serving the nation, are rather serving their own selfish interest and also ignoring good maintenance culture at their work places.
