Salaries will be paid after SSNIT Biometric registration – Gov’t to public workers

The deadline for registration is May 3, 2017 The deadline for registration is May 3, 2017

Government workers who are not on the SNNIT biometric registration, will have their salaries withheld until after registration a statement released by the Finance Ministry has said.

The statement signed by Deputy Finance Minister, Kwaku Kwarteng is directing all legitimate government workers to ensure that they are registered through the SSNIT biometric process to have their salaries released to them.

The statement indicated that persons who register before May 3, 2017 will have their salaries paid them by May 15, 2017.

Also, government workers who may have been mistakenly blocked despite going through the Biometric registration will have their monies released to them by May 15 upon resolution of the errors.

The directive comes at the back of concerns raised by some stakeholders over the suspension of salaries of government workers whose names are not on the SSNIT Biometric registration list.

The Ministry of Finance instructed the Controller and Accountant General’s Department to withhold salaries of employees whose names have not been captured in the ongoing SSNIT Biometric registration.

This is part of efforts to “clean the payroll and make savings for investment into the lives of the citizenry”.
