Salvation Army chief arrives in Accra

Accra, Feb. 11, GNA - The Chief of Staff Commissioner Israel L .Gaither and his wife Commissioner Eva Gaither arrived in the country on Friday evening to participate in the Salvation Army convention from February 11 to 14 2005. The convention, under the theme " Renewal and Commitment" would bring together about 500 delegates of the Church.

Commissioner Gaither said on his arrival that he was delighted to hear that the Church in Ghana did not only experience spiritual activity but also catered for the social well-being by building schools. On the issue of conflict in Africa, he said the only way conflicts could resolve on the continent was for each individual to see his neighbour as his brother.

Commissioner Gaither said if the heart of man is geared towards this direction," then they can think of making a headway in resolving conflicts." On HIV/AIDS there was the need for a behavioural change and added that he had a message of hope for those who were already affected by the disease.

Whilst in the country, Commissioner Gaither would tour some Salvation Army projects such as the Anidasofie Training Centre.
