Madam Samia Nkrumah, Convention Peoples Party (CPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro has expressed gratitude to the people of the area for electing her as their MP in honour of her late father, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Madam Samia Nkrumah conveyed the appreciation at the constituency rally at the Half Assini Roman Catholic School Park on Sunday, where she was introduced to the people as the CPP parliamentary candidate for the constituency in the December 2012 election.

She also thanked the people for their support and asked them to renew their mandate by voting for her to finish the uncompleted work in the constituency. Madam Samia Nkrumah said the country needed honest, intelligent and committed people to undertake excellent projects in the country and asked Ghanaians to vote for the CPP, to execute the programmes.

Mr. Shaddrack Amgdalah, Constituency Chairman of the party, in his welcoming address, said after the first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the party had been facing leadership challenges at the national level until the emergence of Madam Samia Nkrumah.

He appealed to those who have defected from the party as a result of the challenges to rejoin the party to fight the battle ahead of them in re-building the country.

Mr. Godwin Otuo, Regional Chairman of the party said only the CPP can salvage the country from its current socio-economic and advised the people to vote for the party to form the next government.

He said politics of late had become business for parochial interest of some politicians rather than seeking the welfare of the citizenry and asked Ghanaians to elect those with sacrificial will in the next election.

Nii Ankonfrah, the CPP Communication Director, said the achievement of Madam Samia Nkrumah in the constituency was unprecedented in the history of the Jomoro constituency and should be considered for a second term to improve their lot.

He said Dr. Nkrumah had made history in the world and that the daughter Samia is following suit so she deserved to be given the second chance.

Madam Rosedaline Ayana, CPP First National Chairperson, said the party recognized Jomoro constituency as its “heart-beat” so they must maintain Samia in view of her performance in the area.

She said the party is counting on the constituency to vote Madam Samia Nkrumah and Mr. Abu Sakara in the upcoming election.

Mr. Kwabena Asante, Electoral Officer of Jomoro, earlier introduced Madam Samia to the gathering, as the only person who filed her nomination to context the Jomoro parliamentary seat on the ticket of the CPP when nomination was opened. There were solidarity messages from the New Patriotic Party and the People’s National Convention at the rally.

A leading member of the CPP in launching a documentary of the achievements of Madam Nkrumah said 87 communities in Jomoro had so far benefited from the MP’s development packages.
