Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, has lambasted the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration for mismanaging the country during their eight years in political office.

She observed that the country was poorly managed from 2009 to January 7, 2017 that the NDC stayed in office, especially in the area of the economy, resulting in severe economic problems for the populace.

Samira said the NDC government could not implement better policies to deal with the problems that faced the country during their reign, noting that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has fixed those problems now.

“The NDC government only looked on as the power crisis, which is popularly known as ‘Dumsor’, destroyed businesses in the country until the NPP government came to political office to fix the Dumsor”, she said.

Samira was addressing traders at the newly built Atonsu Market in order to know the challenges facing the market women so that she can use her office to help resolve them and make life better for the traders.

She stated that the NPP government has kept faith with the electorates as the government is rapidly fulfilling all its campaign promises, which it gave prior to the 2016 polls so as to better the lives of the citizenry.

“We have introduced the free Senior High School (SHS), restored teachers and nurses’ allowance, introduced NABCO and also introduced the Planting for Food and Jobs policy, among many other positive policies.

Samira stated that President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government is determined to work tirelessly so as to expedite Ghana’s transformation, urging the citizenry to remain hopeful and support the government to deliver.

Top government officials in Kumasi such as the Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, the Municipal Chief Executive of Asokwa, Akwannuasah Gyimah and other dignitaries in Kumasi were also present at the event.

Top NPP members in Kumasi such as Edmund Kyei, the Asokwa Constituency NPP First Vice Chairman, were also there to make the event memorable. Samira was hailed throughout the programme by the market women.
