National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sammi Awuku has roundly condemned the vandalizing of the Central Regional office of the party.

He said it is unlawful for any disgruntled member of the NPP to take the law into his or her own hands and try to settle an issue using lawless means.

A supposed demonstration by some alleged hired thugs to protest against the indefinite suspension of the Central Regional First Vice-Chairman, Ekow Ewusi on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, turned sour when they stormed the regional party office at Nkafoa in Cape Coast and vandalized the facility.

All the sliding window glasses of the building property were destroyed in the process. The windscreen of a Ford minibus (E.250) with registration number GN 4629–19 was neither spared.

Sammi Awuku commenting on the incident on Asempa FM Thursday warned party members to desist from acts of violence and vandalism as such lawless acts will not be entertained.

“The party condemns any act of violence or vandalism on any party facility, the NPP does not countenance any such lawless acts. Anyone who takes the law into his or her own hands when caught up by the law should not ever think that the party will intervene on his or her behalf. It will be recalled that the NPP party office at Salaga was burnt down by some disgruntled youth. I’m imploring our members not to vent their spleen on party facilities whenever they are disgruntled as they’ll be made to face the law squarely.”

The NPP Central Region has not known peace for some weeks now after Regional First Vice Chairman, Ekow Ewusi was suspended following the adoption of the recommendations by the Regional Executive Committee.

Sammi Awuku commenting further on the matter that has resulted in sharp division of the party at the regional level, indicated that the National Executive Council will by next week Wednesday deliberate on the petition that has been submitted in relation to the issue with the view of finding a lasting solution to ensure peace in the Central Region which was critical in the victory of the party during the 2016 election.
