Police at Sandema in the Upper East Region on Monday March 27 exchanged gunfire with some armed robbers in the community.
The incident happened at about 2pm in the afternoon.
An eyewitness, Haruna Sumaila, told Class 91.3FM’s Valentina Ofori-Afyirie on the 505 programme on Monday: “The shootout lasted 10 minutes. What we saw were armed men numbering about five shooting everyone they come across. As we speak there is a lot of noise, the police came in and they were able to curtail the incident.”
“One of the robbers has been taken to the police station and people have stormed the police station chanting that that man should be released for them to kill him.”
