The Minister of Education Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh says all forms of mass gatherings will not be permitted when schools reopen for final year students across the country starting June 15, 2020.
The minister who was giving further details on the president’s order for the reopening of schools at a press briefing, Tuesday, said mass gatherings including morning and closing assembly are prohibited for the over six-week period the students are supposed to prepare for their exit examinations.
For boarding schools, the minister said activities such as dining will be conducted in batches to ensure social distancing during the period. He added that sporting activities will also not be permitted.
He also indicated that the ministry will assess the dynamics on the spread of COVID-19 in the country and provide further directives on the reopening of schools for continuing students in due course.
