A 22-year old scrap dealer who inserted his fingers into the vagina of a two and half year old girl at Airport East has been sentenced to 24 months imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.
Mohammed Sulley charged with indecent assault pleaded guilty and the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku convicted him on his own plea.
Prosecuting Detective Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the complainant Kwabena Augustine is a taxi driver and the convict is his friend.
Chief Inspector Atimbire said convict and complainant reside at a construction site around the Accra Polo Club, East Airport.
The Prosecution said on January 12, this year Augustine who resides at the site with his wife and three kids including the victim, left for work in the morning.
He said the complainant’s wife and two of their kids including victim left to a nearby stream to wash the children’s clothes and bath them as well.
The Prosecution said Sulley who was around saw the victim crying so he took victim from the mother with the impression that he was going to pamper and play with her to enable the mother to continue with her washing.
Sulley took the victim to a nearby bush, laid her on a paper mat, and inserted his fingers into her vagina.
Prosecution said when Augustine returned home in the evening he and the wife saw a swell on the victim’s vagina.
When the victim was questioned she said it was Sulley who laid her on the paper mat and inserted his finger into her vagina.
A report was made to the Airport Police and Sulley was arrested while a medical report form was issued to the parents of the victim to seek medical care.
