The Supreme Court of Ghana is hearing an application by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) challenging the recent declaration and redeclaration of the parliamentary election results of 9 constituencies that were in dispute.
The NDC wants the court to quash a ruling of a High Court which ordered the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) to re-collate and re-declare the results of five constituencies, namely Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, Tema Central, Techiman South, and Obuasi East.
The NDC also wants the order of the court for the EC to continue the collation of the parliamentary election results for the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency nullified.
Visuals sighted by GhanaWeb from the Supreme Court show that the authorities are not taking any chances on security.
The precinct of the apex court of the land was filled with officers of the Ghana Police Service.
At least 20 police officers could be seen at the entrance of the court.
Also, at least 4 police vehicles could be seen within the walls of the court, aside from the ones that could be seen at its entrance.
