Second group of stranded Ghanaians discovered in Morocco

Ghana?s Mission in Morocco has established that there are two groups of stranded Ghanaians in the country ?one in the capital Rabat and the other in Casablanca.

Deputy Foreign Minister Akwasi Osei Adjei told JOY News that the mission is gathering information, which will help government make a decision on any assistance for the stranded Ghanaians.

They have been left stranded for over six months after several failed attempts to cross into Europe.

Initial reports said there were about 40 stranded Ghanaians in the city of Rabat in need of urgent assistance.

Mr. Osei Adjei told JOY News it?s impossible to disclose the condition of the stranded Ghanaians until new information is made available to the Foreign Ministry

? We have a mission in Rabat, Morocco so the ambassador has been informed of the situation as to the plight of these Ghanaians and from my recollection, he was telling me that two groups are in Rabat in Casablanca, so he is fully aware and he has to come back for the necessary action to be taken,? he said.

He said the embassy would soon give the ministry latest reports and promised that necessary actions would be taken.
