Sector Commander commends Ho CEPS personnel

Ho, Feb. 13, GNA - The Ho Sector Commander of the Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), Mr Fredua Agyeman-Boakye on Saturday commended importers for their contribution towards improvement in the revenue performance of the Sector and the Service in general. Mr. Agyeman-Boakye attributed this to the growing tax consciousness among importers.

He did not, however, state the Sector's revenue performance last year. Mr Agyeman-Boakye made the observation at an end of year get-together and award ceremony for staff, importers and stations, which distinguished themselves last year.

Alhaji Moro Ganda was adjudged the Importer of the year, Tinjase the most improved sector, Alhaji I.M. Trawule best Senior Officer, Mrs Angela Crabbe best Junior Officer.

The best station award went to Honuta, while the Vehicle Examination and Licensing Division (VELD), Hohoe received a special award. Mr Agyeman-Boakye observed that several constraints contributed to the Sector's inability to perform better.

He assured the staff that management was doing the best it could to address conditions that militate against peak performance. Mr Agyeman-Boakye reminded the personnel of the arduous responsibility of the Service as the largest revenue collector for the country and the need for them to prove equal to those challenges and honour that go along with them.

Togbe Anikpi III, Chief of Ho-Heve, who chaired the function reminded personnel of the Service that the country's ability to finance its development independent of donor assistance depended on them. That, he said called for constant assessment of their performances and strategies with a view to identifying weaknesses and loopholes and strategising towards improved performance on a constant basis. He commended the CEPS for instituting its annual get-together and award ceremonies to reward hard-working and efficient personnel and stations and for self-examination. 13. 02 05.
