Security Agencies Must Reprimand NPP and Affiliate groups - Young Democrats demand

Credible information available to the Young Democrats and the general public, indicates clearly that, the NPP and its political Aficionados are geared up to perpetrate violence on Ghanaians in the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

On Friday 20th May 2016, the convener for the Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA), David Asante in an interview on Adom news which was subsequently published on GhanaWeb, said among other things that the Electoral Commission (EC) has opened the floodgates for violence in the November 7 general election. He also declared to physically prevent people previously registered through the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card from voting on Election Day. While every sound-minded Ghanaian including David Asante and his paymasters know that there exists, no identification to extricate those who registered with the NHIS from others, physically preventing someone from voting on infantile assumptions will only breed violence and chaos.

By this statement, Ghanaians and for that matter the security agencies are only being informed of the plot by the NPP and its appendages to plunge this country into chaos.

It has been evident from the word go that the NPP has been looking for opportunity to justify electoral violence having realized winning the 2016 Presidential elections has become an impossible task. The agenda to run-down the EC with needless accusations and attacks is to create a bad public image for the commission in order to justify any NPP intended violence during and after the polls.

History will remind Ghanaians that Mr. David Asante who holds himself as the convener of the pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA), has a history of inciting violence. The LMVCA is affiliated to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and it can be recall in 2013, the group organized a rally in Accra, where the supporters of the NPP called on their leadership to allow them detonate bombs at schools, public transport etc. And in the process kill innocent Ghanaians because the NPP lost the 2012 general election to the John Mahama-led NDC.
Quite recently, the NPP under the cover of darkness imported three (3) South African ex-service men into the country to conduct military training for party footsoldiers at the El Capitano Hotel in Agona Dunkwa for the 2016 elections. Suspended National Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Paul Afoko also admitted to the NPP earlier engaging Serbian mercenaries to train party footsoldiers in various drills including weapon handling. One therefore needs no rocket scientist to confirm that the incessant attacks on the EC and the electoral process by the NPP and its Let My Vote Count Alliance is a grand scheme to create a hopeless and hapless political environment to allow their mercenaries to destabilize our peaceful country.

It is therefore inimical to the growth of our democratic process if the security agencies sit aloof for David Asante and the likes to make such inflammatory utterances on the airwaves.

The Young Democrats believe that, institutions of state such as the EC must be supported to deliver on their constitutional mandates. The deliberate attacks on the EC by the NPP and its affiliates must not be taken lightly by the Security Agencies but rather they must be extra vigilant and treat such Security threatening statements with all the seriousness it deserves.

We urge the Security Agencies to give our request a thoughtful consideration to curb and avert a response in an equal measure in our own effort to protect and preserve the peace of our motherland.

The Young Democrats is calling on all well meaning Ghanaians to reject political parties and surrogates whose only interest is to create chaos and disturb the peace of our beloved nation.
