Security agencies kept in perpetual alertness

Government is rolling out a number of measures to get the security services in what it calls a state of perpetual alertness.

Interior Minister, Kwesi Ahwoi says the security forces will be adequately equipped to be ready for any eventuality.

On Friday, the police service commissioned a helipad with the capacity to accommodate three helicopters at its National Operations Centre at the Police Headquarters.

The Interior Minister was clear government will invest the needed resources to keep the security agencies fully functional at all times.

He said the security service must also be on the move and alert to ensure they are not taken by surprise.

Kwesi Ahwoi maintained that the announcement and the channeling of resources into security service has nothing to do with the impending Supreme Court judgment on the presidential election petition.

"Ghanaians should be rest assured that this is all part of nation building to get our men in uniform ready to sacrifice their lives for this country" he added.
