The chaos that characterized yesterday’s by-elections in Talensi should be a guiding note for Ghana’s security agencies ahead of the 2016 general elections, President Mahama has said.
Mahama, whose ruling NDC’s candidate B.T Baba won yesterday’s polls, in a tweet Wednesday condemned the disturbances as ‘unacceptable.”
“Violence in Talensi unacceptable. Security services must take lessons learned to ensure peaceful 2016 poll.”
Yesterday’s by-elections saw instances where the Police were left helpless. In most cases locals say, they watched on while machetes and other sharp objects were thrown about.
Both parties have since accepted the results of the elections.
