Ho, Oct. 19, GNA - A combined team of forestry officials and the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) on Thursday, impounded a truckload of illegal sawn lumber with a street value of about 20 million cedis on the Ho-Adaklu road.
Mr Osei Gyamfi, Deputy Volta Regional Manager of the Forestry Commission, told newsmen that the team intercepted the truck upon a tip-off about 0300 hours.
He said 450 pieces of lumber of different sizes were found on the truck, suspected to have been loaded from the Kadjebi district en route to Akatsi district.
Mr Gyamfi said the driver offered to bribe the team, which was declined.
He urged the public to volunteer information leading to the arrest of such recalcitrant citizens, saying, informants would be given monetary reward.
