The New Patriotic Party (NPP) held its final rally over the weekend ahead of the April 30, 2024, Ejisu by-election.
In attendance were President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as well as high-profile national officers and hundreds of supporters.
The president, his vice president, and the NPP candidate, lawyer Kwabena Boateng, delivered speeches to the supporters through loudspeakers mounted at vantage points at the rally grounds.
The speakers took turns rallying the supporters to turn out and vote to ensure the NPP retains a seat it held since 2020 until John Kumah's death in March this year.
Accra-based Starr FM, have shared a video of a power plant that was deployed during the rally, ostensibly to be used in case of power outages, referred to as dumsor.
According to a video reviewed by GhanaWeb, the plant was sitting in an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) truck parked close to the rally grounds.
GhanaWeb cannot ascertain whether or not it was used at any point during the event.
Parts of the country have been experiencing dumsor with households and businesses lamenting the failure of ECG to publish a timetable.
The government has given multiple assurances that the issue will be over soon.
