The former Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced his arrival at Mecca, together with his wife, Samira Bawumia, to perform Umrah, the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.
Sharing the update on his social media pages on Friday, January 10, 2025, Dr. Bawumia stated that he arrived in Saudi Arabia on January 9, 2025, as part of his personal resolution to express gratitude to Allah for His grace and guidance.
Bawumia also shared that he prayed for the country, seeking divine protection from his Maker as Ghana transitions into a new government and leadership.
In the photos, Bawumia is seen earnestly praying alongside his wife, Samira, alongside Mustapha Ussif, the former Minister of Sports.
Other notable personalities present at Mecca with Bawumia include Amin Mohammed, the former Minister of Finance; and Habib Iddrisu, the Member of Parliament for Tolon constituency.
“Together with Hajia Samira and some friends, I arrived in Mecca yesterday to perform Umrah (Islamic Pilgrimage to Mecca). This is to thank the Almighty Allah for His grace. We also prayed for guidance and protection for us and for our nation, Ghana,” he posted.
