Sekyere Presbytery of PCG institutes Educational fund

Kumasi, Dec. 4, GNA- The Sekyere Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has instituted an Educational fund to promote the growth of brilliant but needy pupils and students of the Church in the area. Proceeds from the fund would be geared towards the infrastructural development of deprived Presbyterian schools. Launching the fund at a ceremony at Nsuta in the Sekyere West District of Ashanti at the weekend, Right Reverend Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the PCG, commended the presbytery for the initiative and called on members to contribute generously to sustain it. He said it was imperative that religious bodies explored avenues to alleviate the plight of needy but brilliant students to enable them to tap the potentials and talents inherent in them for the benefit of the nation.

The Moderator lauded government for considering to re-introduce Religious and Moral Education (RME) into the Basic School curricula and hoped that it would eventually become operational to promote sound education among the Children. Rt. Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso donated an amount of GH=A21,000 as seed money for the fund.

Mr. Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister, who also donated GH=A2500 to the fund, appealed to students in basic and second-cycle institutions in the country to be disciplined and work hard to justify the investment being made in them.
