Seminar for financial officers of UEW ends in Winneba

Winneba (C/R), Oct. 18, GNA - The University of Education, Winneba, has held a day's capacity building seminar for 75 finance officers of the University at Winneba with a call on them to be extra careful with financial matters of the University.

Participants from the Kumasi, Winneba and Mampong campuses took part in the seminar under the theme, "Enhancing the Security and Continuity of Financial Information System".

Addressing them, the Financial Officer of the University, Mr Benjamin Kpodo called on financial administrators to place much emphasis on the changing revolution on security, continuity and accessibility of computerized financial information to enhance the growth of financial information system in the university.

He called for proper installation of software to check on the data security and continuity to make it reliable at all times. Mr Kpodo said the time had come for finance officers to build a strong and vibrant computerized financial information system that would be able to forestall any problem.

Mr Hubert Asior, Network Administrator at the University, advised against the "sharing of files" on the Internet, because it creates room for manipulation of accounts and information.

Mr Ohemeng-Tinayase, the Finance Manager of the Ghana Shippers Council, Tema, suggested that camera phones should not be allowed in sensitive offices to avoid the illegal sourcing of information. Prof. Jophus Anamuah-Mensah, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jonas Akpanglo-Nartey, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Mr Christopher Yartey Akwaa-Mensah, Registrar and the Principals of the Kumasi and Mampong campuses attended.
