Kumasi, Sept 27, GNA - Mr Kwabena Senkyire, a Government-appointee at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) polled 4,463 out of the total 6,828 votes cast to become the elected assembly member for Dichemso electoral area in the district assembly and unit committee election conducted on Tuesday throughout the country. Mr Oscar Apemah-Baah, electoral Officer for Manhyia Sub-Metropolitan Assembly, who disclosed this to newsmen in Kumasi on Wednesday, said Senkyire's opponent, Issifu Abdulai, the incumbent had 230 votes.
Nineteen of the votes were rejected, he said. He said Mr Kwaku Appiah had 1,512 votes to win Odumase CPC seat as against Mr Samuel Kwabena Adade who had 551 and Mr Osei Kwame Badu Kaakyire who also had 492 votes. At the Krofofrom electoral area, Mr Apemah-Baah said Mr Patrick Frimpong won the seat with 2,502 votes as against total votes of 4,445 to beat his contestant, Mr Anthony Gyamfi-Ameyaw who had 1,908 votes. The electoral Officer hinted that Madam Agartha Abrafi, the incumbent assembly woman for Bremang polled 1,612 votes to lose the seat to Mr Obeng Poku who had 2,162 out of the 6,412 total votes cast. The other contestants were Mr Thomas Owusu-Ansah, former assembly member who had 1,369 votes followed by Mr Moses Osei-Sarfo with 564 votes, Mr George Boateng-Boakye, 347 votes, Mr Abebrese Anohene Aikins, 212 votes and Mr Eric Agyei-Britwum with 127 votes.
