Senyo Hosi slams Government

.....accuses it of playing politics with June 3 disaster and encouraging cover up

The Chief Executive Officer of Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors, Mr. Senyo Hosi, has criticized Government for encouraging cover up in the investigations into what has come to be known as the June 3 Disaster that befell the nation in 2015. He further accused government of playing politics with the disaster. He said these in an interview granted to Akwasi Aboagye of Neat FM.

When asked to explain further, he retorted with a question: “Do you think fire would erupt if someone drops a lit cigarette into water?" He also condemned Ghanaians for enrolling in schools only to pass their exams and not to learn to solve problems. He encouraged all to dare to learn to solve problems and ask useful and critical questions.

He asserted that the real cause of the accident was the leaked fuel and called on Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) and the managers of the petroleum service station where over 150 persons lost their lives to accept responsibility, indemnify all those who lost properties and livelihoods and compensate all who lost breadwinners and loved ones.

Expectedly, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, appeared on the same show and attempted to blame the people for the June 3 disaster. But when he was questioned if he had seen the report of the committee set up to investigate the disaster, he answered "NO". However, he hinted that the Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) was asked to accept responsibility for the disaster.
However, he failed to tell listeners what punishment was meted out to the Metropolitan Chief Executive.

It is recalled that over 150 persons died on the night of 3rd June 2015 at a GOIL fuel service station near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra-Ghana. The disaster was reportedly caused by flooding and fire that erupted from a lit cigarette dropped into the flood water on that fateful night.
