Two persons, including a 70-year-old farmer, have been remanded into prison custody by the Nkawie Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old pupil.

Hayford Oware 70, and Eric Addo 18, are said to have defiled the girl on different occasions at Sikafrebogya, near Manfo in the Ahafo-Ano North Municipality.

Their pleas were not taken and they would reappear in Court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey on June 14, this year.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Jonas Newlove Agyei, told the Court that the victim was a class five pupil and lives with her mother at Sikafrebogya number one.

He said on May 20, this year, the victim fell sick and was rushed to the Manfo clinic where it was detected that someone had had sex with her.

Mr Agyei said upon interrogation by the mother, the victim mentioned Addo as the one who had sexual intercourse with her in his room after she had fetched him a bucket of water.

He said Addo then threatened to kill her if she ever disclosed the encounter to anyone.

Inspector Agyei said after a report was made to the Manfo Police, the victim further confessed to the police and her mother that, the 70 year old man also had had sex with her in the bush last year.

The two were arrested by the police and in their cautioned statements denied the charges.

The Prosecution said the victim was still receiving treatment at the Tepa Government Hospital.
