Seven communities in Atwima-Mponua commend government

Bredi (Ash), March 14, GNA - Seven communities in the Atwima-Mponua district of Ashanti have commended the government for the introduction of a number of policies and programmes to raise the standard of living of the people.

The communities, made up of Bredi, Mantukwa, Anyinasa, Okyerekrom, Kyeamekrom, Aboabogya and Sreso, mentioned the introduction of the mass cocoa spraying exercise, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and capitation grant as some of the policies which would help the people. Mr David Baafi, the Bredi unit committee chairman, who conveyed the commendation of the communities to the government through Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, the Atwima-Mponua District Chief Executive, said the introduction of the mass cocoa spraying exercise had helped to increase their yields.

The capitation grant, he said had also encouraged them to send their children to school. The DCE visited the communities as part of his familiarisation tour of the area. Mr Baafi said the mass spraying exercise had gingered farmers who hitherto had left their farms unattended to, in the bush due to financial difficulties have rehabilitated their farms and were reaping the benefits.

He said the rural dwellers who could not assess health delivery under the cash and carry system, were now able to do so. Mr Charles Dwumfuor, assemblyman for the area appealed to the assembly for cement and roofing sheets to complete their projects and also asked the government to rehabilitate the Antwi-Adjeikrom-Camp, Adomakrom-Anyinasa and Beyeeden-Anyinasa roads, since they were in deplorable conditions.
