Seven trillion cedis debt not for NDC alone

The Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Mrs. Ama Benyiwa-Doe, has said the seven trillion cedis debt said to have been contracted by the NDC government is an accumulation of loans contracted by previous governments.

She said this when she joined the people of Gomoa Ajumako-Ansah and Dawurampong to celebrate their annual Akwanbo festivals last weekend.

The MP said the government of the New Patriotic Party has contracted loans to the tune of 4.9 trillion cedis within eight months of its administration.

She was happy that the government had now seen the wisdom in some of the policies of the previous government and was implementing them.

She cited the divestiture programme as a typical example and added that the government was so comfortable with it that it had decided to privatise water supply.

Mrs. Benyiwa-Doe assured the nation that the NDC members in parliament would never be an impediment to the government in its efforts to improve the standard of living of the people.

She however, said they would not shirk their responsibility of keeping the government on its toes.

She advised the people of the two communities to rekindle their communal spirit to speed up the pace of development.
