The Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr has reacted to the fracas that occurred at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) 2019.
Livingstone Etse Satekla popularly known in showbiz as Stonebwoy and Charles Nii Armah also known as Shatta Wale were arrested over a brawl that ensued at the just ended VGMA. If you may recall, the two clashed on stage when Stonebwoy was announced as the winner for the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year category.
Meanwhile, the two have been released on bail.
Speaking to this on Joy Newsfile programme, Saturday, Kweku Baako wondered when the entertainment industry moved to the point of brandishing a gun in public; adding, “perhaps this is education by a negative experience, we should wake up,”
"Stone who? Shatta who?... Pat Thomas, AB Crenstil, Amakye Dede, Daddy Lumba...those were the days...what happened to us; what really happened to us. I must be forgiven by their followers, and they are doing well for themselves and they could if they position themselves very well; it serves as a catalyst for growing the Ghanaian entertainment industry. forget the names that I mentioned of the old stock; the new generation definitely have some people; these gentlemen could if they exercise a certain level of self-discipline"
“Music is therapeutic, it heals but looks at the distortion and the pollution. Maybe it’s good that this happened it will make us wake up and take another look at our scenes, not just music everywhere else. When it comes to the in-depth knowledge of present-day or current or contemporary music industry, it’s at sea; that is why I ask Shatta who and Stone who" he added.
