Shoe robbers grabbed

Three suspected robbers have been nabbed by the police for allegedly stealing 291 boxes of assorted footwear valued at Ghc145,500 from a warehouse located at Old Fadama in Accra.

Bright Asante, 38, resident of Breman in Kumasi, was arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command while Aminu Bukari and Mallam Fari, aka Red, were busted by the James Town police in Accra, acting upon vital information from their colleagues in Kumasi.

The trio allegedly broke into the warehouse of Lenenki Company Ltd, a Chinese company at Old Fadama, which deals in different kinds of footwear.

The police have since been able to retrieve 120 boxes of the stolen items from Asante.

He (Asante) and the retrieved boxes of footwear have been sent to Accra where the police are conducting further investigations into the case.

Briefing Daily Guide, ASP Edward Bright Asante, Formed Police Unit (FPU) Second-in-Command, said in the night of September 8, this year, some people broke into a warehouse which contained assorted footwear belonging to Lenenki Company Ltd.

He said the hoodlums ransacked the warehouse and ran away with 291 boxes of the item.

According to ASP Edward Bright Asante, the robbers contacted Bright Asante in Kumasi, and he (Asante) traveled to Accra to convey the stolen items to Kumasi.

The police, ASP Obeng Boateng said, acting upon intelligence, arrested Asante, who was in possession of the stolen items at the Kumasi Central Market on September 12.

He said upon interrogation, he (Asante) mentioned Aminu Bukari and Mallam Fari – all in Accra - as his accomplices.
